Setting up Google Accounts

10/12/2020

Below is a short video on how to set up a Google account. We are asking middle school students to create a Google account to use with Schoology. Please create this account with your student by next Monday, October 19. Thanks for your help.
You will notice that there was an error message at the end of the video. If this happens to you, just close the tab. Open a new tab and you should see that it works in that tab. This video explains that.

Schoology Information

10/8/2020

Beginning October 12, we will be using Schoology Enterprise. It is the same learning platform we used for the first quarter but the log in information is slightly different. You will go to the link chester.schoology.com. Students will still sign in with their school email, but they will use the password they use to log in to their laptop. This will also give them access to their school email. You will also notice that student courses are listed separately now (i.e. Math is in a different course from ELA, etc.). Students will need to check each course each day to complete the work. Please view the short videos and contact us if you have any questions.

2nd Quarter Info for Academy Online Students

10/8/2020

The following information is for families who have chosen to continue to learning virtually from home:
  • Students must log in to be counted present for the day. Students will continue to work virtually on a daily basis to watch instructional videos and complete all assignments.
  • Teachers will be available to offer support and answer question from 2:30 - 4:00 Mondays - Thursdays and 8:00 - 1:00 on Fridays.
  • Ignite Sessions will be available by appointment on Fridays from 8:30 - 10:30 and 10:30 - 12:30 for students needing to come to the building for help with their assignments. Contact your child's teacher to schedule and appointment.
  • Breakfasts and lunches will be available for our online students to pick up each Friday for the following week. You must contact the school to register your student for meal pickup.
  • Academy Online students will be required to come to the building for standardized assessments. Your child's teacher will let you know when these assessments will be taken.

2nd Quarter Info for Hybrid Students

10/8/2020

We are so ready to see all of our students return on October 12 or October 14 as we begin our hybrid learning model. Here are some things that will be useful for students and parents to this transition smooth.
  • Classrooms will only be at 50% capacity each day. A Day students will come to school on Mondays and Tuesdays only. B Day students will come to school on Wednesdays and Thursdays only. Students will distance learn from home on days they do not attend school.
  • They school day will be from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Students may not be dropped off prior to 7:30 and must be picked up by 2:30 due to the inability to hold students in groups. Drop off and pick up will occur at the carline area only. If you are picking up 3 or more students, you may use the Bus Area on the other side of the building.
  • Third - eighth grade students need to bring their laptops and chargers each day. Please ensure that laptops are fully charged.
  • Students must wear a mask of face covering when arriving or leaving school and when they cannot social distance themselves from others.
  • Teachers must wear a mask or face covering.
  • Nurse J.J. will monitor all staff and students for symptoms.
  • Related arts classes (Art, Music, etc.) will occur in the student's regular classroom. Students will have P.E. in the cafeteria. Middle school students will not change classes; teachers will rotate class to class.
  • Breakfast and lunch will be eaten in the classroom. Students may not bring lunch that requires heating as microwaves will not be available. Delivery of fast food will not be allowed.
  • Students need to bring water bottles as water fountains will not be used. We have ordered an automatic water bottle fill station that should be installed soon.
  • Students will not share materials.
  • Classrooms will be sanitized thoroughly throughout the day and after students are dismissed daily.
